Being in a sorority prepared me for the real world. If you know you know.

💭Okay, I have not been in a sorority per se, but I found out soror in Greek means sister; blame it on the new movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3" coming out anyway, but last Tuesday, we lived out all I am saying here.

As I shared last week the passing of our sweet Gertrude, the Shop greeter and Grandma Boss' beloved companion, last Tuesday one of the knitting ladies arrived at the shop with a beautiful white gardenia for Liz.  She had yet to learn Gertie's news yet. This beautiful kitting lady said: "I just knew that I knew I had to bring you this flower today", the most significant part of the story is that her gardenia plant wasn't doing "very good" after lots of care and going away for a trip she returned home to find 32 buds and just the one blooming that's when she knew she had to bring the only one gardenia to her friend Liz, only to find out a few hours later her act of kindness came at the right timing.

I think that those random acts of kindness become sweet and pleasant aromas we should mist in the world we live in. A few things I will remember from Gertrude are: she was the kind of pup that would tell ya like it is, you can be sweet and direct at the same time.

Have you been the recipient of an random act of kindness? How did that make you feel? May I suggest you pass on someone else the same experience? I would like to invite you to be that white gardenia, spreading the good aroma of kindness around you. Today on Wisdom Wednesday I will repeat it again: In a world where you can be anything, be a Gertrude!

It's Wellness Wednesday

You will not believe me when I say that I even have to schedule my writing times. Although, at times I thought it would dry my creativity juices instead "Kreated" some expectancy, which is necessary when you are a wannabe writer like me. Following up with the new facet of the business. And since it is Wednesday, and you guessed it, yes, Wisdom Wednesday. I came across this image on Pinterest the pin is from @Ourpeachyhome  and it was my "confirmation" to decide what to share today. What a better day of the week to pause and go for a massage. I'm glad Grandma Boss cultivates this mindset of taking care of you so you can take care of everything and everyone else. Friends as a young mom, student, and part-time helper of the yarn shoppe I believe it to be true! Today I want to remind you to fill your cup. You can't pour out of an empty cup! . If you need ideas on filling your cup, or don't even know what to do to refresh yourself. May I suggest a few things?...

Wisdom Wednesday brought to you by Gertrude.

It's been a while since I came across this idea of Wisdom Wednesday; in all reality, Wednesday marks the middle of the week, and many would say that means a day where feeling overwhelmed by all the demands from the mundane things associated with work, family, and life can be an underestimation. Also, it could be the day when you pause and await the weekend with joyful expectations. I chose the latter. Today Wednesday, marks the middle of the week when my old pal, neighbor, and work's greeter passed away. Today I want to pause from the feeling of sadness for her passing and the empty spot she leaves in the life of her beloved doggy parents, friends, and clientele. I am to pause and reflect on the many times we spent together, Gertrude unique personalit y; she was the star of the shop, and we were her workers. We literally walked together for 11 years, So Gertie, today I chose to remember all the sweetness and spice you carry everywhere you went.  We chose to hold on with joy h...

What is Knitting?

I could be nerdy and give you all kinds of definitions, even pull up Wikipedia, but let's be honest. When you hear the word knitting, do you imagine an old lady holding yarn and knitting needles sitting on a rocking chair? You are not wrong, though! But let me tell ya that anybody can knit and crochet. This craft is not limited to gender, age, or ethnicity. I was a little mind-blown that this summer, a young girl walked in the Shop's door (accompanied by her mom, of course) to check out the different yarn brands Grandma Boss sells, and she sure did buy some good stuff. At the Shop, she saw a hanging basket with several hats. She asked if they were for sale, but those are the "Chemo hats" the knitting ladies make to donate to the local hospital. A few weeks later, she returned to the Shop to bring a hat she made to add to the basket. And that wasn't it. She brought family and friends to buy birthday gifts; a girl, not even ten, with that level of creativity, sense ...
