What is Knitting?

I could be nerdy and give you all kinds of definitions, even pull up Wikipedia, but let's be honest. When you hear the word knitting, do you imagine an old lady holding yarn and knitting needles sitting on a rocking chair? You are not wrong, though! But let me tell ya that anybody can knit and crochet. This craft is not limited to gender, age, or ethnicity.

I was a little mind-blown that this summer, a young girl walked in the Shop's door (accompanied by her mom, of course) to check out the different yarn brands Grandma Boss sells, and she sure did buy some good stuff. At the Shop, she saw a hanging basket with several hats. She asked if they were for sale, but those are the "Chemo hats" the knitting ladies make to donate to the local hospital. A few weeks later, she returned to the Shop to bring a hat she made to add to the basket. And that wasn't it. She brought family and friends to buy birthday gifts; a girl, not even ten, with that level of creativity, sense of community, and generosity, is worth spending my time writing and passing this story.

Knitting is more than grabbing a skein of yarn and needles and making hats or scarfs you will never wear. Knitting can help you get through anxious times and connect with like-minded people, thus creating friendships, and sometimes, if you are lucky, you can make your own income.

This blog was created because I wanted you to share the creativity, knowledge, and stories I am blessed to be a part of every time I am at Kunert Kreations, the funky yarn shop in rural Wisconsin.

Here, you will find all kinds of tips and nuggets of wisdom knitting-related; if you have a specific question about yarn, don't hesitate to ask- I will ask the master Grandma Boss Liz. So, grab your cup of coffee and knitting project, and read on!

It's Wellness Wednesday

You will not believe me when I say that I even have to schedule my writing times. Although, at times I thought it would dry my creativity juices instead "Kreated" some expectancy, which is necessary when you are a wannabe writer like me. Following up with the new facet of the business. And since it is Wednesday, and you guessed it, yes, Wisdom Wednesday. I came across this image on Pinterest the pin is from @Ourpeachyhome  and it was my "confirmation" to decide what to share today. What a better day of the week to pause and go for a massage. I'm glad Grandma Boss cultivates this mindset of taking care of you so you can take care of everything and everyone else. Friends as a young mom, student, and part-time helper of the yarn shoppe I believe it to be true! Today I want to remind you to fill your cup. You can't pour out of an empty cup! . If you need ideas on filling your cup, or don't even know what to do to refresh yourself. May I suggest a few things?...

Wisdom Wednesday brought to you by Gertrude.

It's been a while since I came across this idea of Wisdom Wednesday; in all reality, Wednesday marks the middle of the week, and many would say that means a day where feeling overwhelmed by all the demands from the mundane things associated with work, family, and life can be an underestimation. Also, it could be the day when you pause and await the weekend with joyful expectations. I chose the latter. Today Wednesday, marks the middle of the week when my old pal, neighbor, and work's greeter passed away. Today I want to pause from the feeling of sadness for her passing and the empty spot she leaves in the life of her beloved doggy parents, friends, and clientele. I am to pause and reflect on the many times we spent together, Gertrude unique personalit y; she was the star of the shop, and we were her workers. We literally walked together for 11 years, So Gertie, today I chose to remember all the sweetness and spice you carry everywhere you went.  We chose to hold on with joy h...
